The frights are on their way to the current and next generation of consoles. Atmospheric horror darling Little Nightmares 2 is coming to consoles in February 2021.
The news of the release date comes with a new story trailer, which was featured in the Gamescom 2020 livestream. Whether you are running from a shotgun-wielding foe in the dark woods or a scary teacher in a decrepit classroom, Little Nightmares 2 is sure to pack some scares.
In Little Nightmares 2, you play as Mono, a paper bag wearing boy that is stuck in an oddly horrifying world. Along with Six, they must run, hide and fight to survive against the monstrous inhabitants.
The trailer shows off some disturbing imagery, including grabbing doll hands and teleporting creatures. The trailer also shows off some new gameplay mechanics.
Little Nightmares 2 Coming to Current and Next-Gen Consoles
While the first game had you running and hiding from monsters, Mono wields a hammer that looks like he can use in some way. Mono can also teleport through televisions and work together with Six to solve puzzles.
Little Nightmares takes a lot from classic horror media, and the second game continues that trend. The hands-on television screen recalls classic horror movie Poltergeist and the long-armed man following Mono towards the end of the trailer feels like a different take on Slender Man.
Even though you will have Six to assist you in-game, Little Nightmares 2 looks to be a solely single-player game. Given that the game will receive an update for next-generation consoles, there could be a possibility to take on this horror ride with a friend.
Little Nightmares 2 is coming to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch on February 11, 2021. Players that purchase the game on PS4 and Xbox One will receive a free next-gen upgrade to the PS5 and Xbox Series X later on.
