What We Know About The Live-Action Five Nights at Freddy’s Movie
Jason Blum has confirmed that a live-action film based on Five Nights at Freddy’s will begin filming in February 2023. Emma Tammi is set to direct, best known for her work on the Into the Dark film Blood Moon, the 2018 film The Wind, Delivered, and other works.
The Jim Henson Creature Shop will be responsible for building the animatronics that will be used in the film.
Blum said in a statement.
“Five Nights at Freddy’s is more consistently asked about than any other film I’ve ever worked on, and I’m thrilled to confirm it’s finally happening! With Emma Tammi at the helm, we’re committed to making Scott’s vision of the movie come to life. Rest assured, it will be and is worth the wait.“
Blum has been working directly with Five Nights at Freddy’s creator Scott Cawthon on the live-action film for several years and recently shared a Tweet of an individual from the Jim Henson Creature Shop working on a model with a striking resemblance to the series’ iconic villain, Freddy Fazbear.
All that is known about the potential plot is that the story will focus on a character named Michael Afton, the father of the character William Afton that set the events of the original game into motion.
Five Nights at Freddy’s is a horror video game series created by Scott Cawthon in 2014 that follows a security guard as he begins work at the family-friendly Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza joint. However, whiling the night shift, he must survive for five nights with the dangerous animatronic characters that suddenly come to life.
Since 2014, the original game has sold over 2 million copies, and the series has grown to incorporate 9 titles, the latest of which, Security Breach, was released just last year.
