Concerts are often some of the rowdiest and noisiest events you can attend, but for some artists, like Logic the Rapper, it appears 100 percent of your attention is now required. Logic recently went viral for calling out and getting angry at a fan for being on his phone and texting someone while he was performing live in Morrison, Colorado. The interaction has since caused backlash against Logic, with many questioning what exactly the logic was behind humiliating a single fan who was on his phone:
The particular concert took place around early October in the Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, Colorado. Logic was apparently in the middle of performing a set when he abruptly paused after noticing one male fan who was on his phone. The fan claims he was texting his girlfriend and quickly apologized to Logic for the interruption, but Logic insisted that he put his phone down and watch the live performance.
Some viewers also noticed how Logic seemingly pivoted quickly from his initial threat to the fan, as his original callout was “Get this [expletive] out of here.” But then he changed it to something more neutral and stopped his fans from booing the hapless male fan who was texting his girlfriend.
Logic, the rapper, notably rose to fame in 2013 and throughout the 2010s with one of his most relevant and important songs, “1-800-273-8255,” which brought awareness to mental health at a time when it was not being discussed widely enough in mainstream pop culture. Lately, Logic has begun transitioning to other media such as streaming and film.
People online think the fan humiliation was illogical
Logic, having a concert, however, was a testament to the number of loyal fans he has. Still, apart from that viral fan callout clip, Logic’s recent concert at Red Rocks was also criticized because he spent several minutes promoting his new movie in the concert’s limited runtime. Calling out one fan who was on his phone piqued a bit of resentment from fans and mockery online.
“This is so dumb. I despise any artist that does this,” according to a Reddit commenter on the video, with another replying, “They already have all the attention. People literally paid. But that isnt enough for him,” to them. “Does this guy pause the show everytime someone goes to the bathroom, had a side convo with a friend, or kneels down to tie their shoe? Bitch, this isn’t a classroom. Just rhyme your rhymes,” questions another commenter.
The last comment made more sense than Logic’s actions, as it’s somewhat impossible for a fan to devote every waking second of their attention to a concert. Others pointed out just how quickly Logic realized his illogical breakdown and tried to save the interaction, though it might have been too late, “He tried so hard to save it at the end but threatening to throw someone out over that is beyond petty.” Hopefully, someone’s girlfriend isn’t too mad at him for not texting during a concert.
