Marvel is highlighting the upcoming Loki miniseries with a main cover reveal. The four-issue limited series from Dan Watters and German Peralta puts the focus on Marvel’s favorite trickster. However, the God of Lies has recently taken up a new mantle of God of Stories these days. The main cover from artist Dustin Nguyen gives just a glimpse into what lays in wait for Loki.
Loki Limited Series
According to Marvel, this limited series follows Loki on his new, benevolent path. However, the past always comes back to haunt us and being a God doesn’t mean you can outrun your past. Now, several ancient and powerful weapons that Loki once forged are scattered amongst the Ten Realms. The trickster must track them down before they fall into the wrong hands. Oh, and they could unleash Ragnarok so there is that to deal with. The miniseries promises new characters, surprising guests, and some startling twists as Loki travels the Realms to save the universe.
Dustin Nguyen’s main cover shows the new God of Stories Loki as he looks on, possibly in thoughts. In the forefront, just beneath Loki, is what appears to be a memory of past Loki fighting with Thor on a Viking longboat. While Thor wields Mjolnir, Loki swings his iconic staff above his head. Perhaps that staff is one of those weapons Loki will end up trying to find in the four-issue series.
A New Path for the God of Lies
Writer Dan Watters is making his Marvel debut with this upcoming Loki limited series. He shares that it is an absolute dream to make that debut with Loki. Especially as he gets to take him “all the way around the Marvel Universe and back again.” He promises a tale full of magic, danger, and when Loki’s involved, a bit of mischief.
Meanwhile, artist German Peralta is excited to tackle Loki, not only from a Marvel standpoint but a mythological one: “Loki is one of the most interesting characters, not only in comics, but also in mythology, and his ambiguity in all aspects of his life makes him a very interesting character for an artist.” After all, Loki has filled just about every role from hero to villain and everything in between. It is anyone’s guess what he will be at the end of these four issues.
