HBO is taking Avengers star Elizabeth Olsen into another dark role in the Love and Death trailer, a series that follows the true story of Candy Montgomery (seen below). The show comes from David E. Kelley (Big Little Lies, Nine Perfect Strangers).
Based on a true story, the Love and Death trailer shows Candy, who in 1980 was accused of murder. Taking place in Texas, churchgoing couples—Candy and Pat Montgomery and Betty and Allan Gore—find themselves in a dark place. Candy Montgomery had an affair with Allan Gore after she became friends with Betty Gore. While Allan was out of town, on June 13, 1980, Betty was found murdered after being struck by an axe 41 times. Candy was accused but said she acted in self-defense. She was later acquitted.
The Marvel star leads as Candy, Jesse Plemons plays Allan, Lilly Rabe (The First Lady) plays Betty, and Patrick Fugit (Babylon) as Pat. Other stars include Olivia Grace Applegate (Dirty John), Fabiola Andújar (Blood, Money or Loyalty), Kira Pozehl (American Crime), and Krysten Ritter.
