War is about to shift in command and conquer with this upcoming FPS/RTS by Poleaxe Games. A procedural sandbox where weaponry and magic are one, Empire of Ember is an action indie title that throws in a series of chaotic war scenes with a grand dash of creative destruction.
Blade and Spell Go Hand-in-Hand in Empire of Ember
In Empire of Ember, you are the leader of an ever-growing army where magic and steel will clash. While following several developer-created story stages across four biomes, the player fights against numerous enemies amid randomly generated overland maps. Additionally, the game features procedurally-generated dungeons. The player can wield weapons and magic and simultaneously command NPCs through the game’s light real-time strategy element. From there, the chaos commences, with hundreds of units trading sparks and spells.
Most notably, Empire of Ember is included with a city builder that’ll allow the player to structure and decorate fully destructible kingdoms. Debris can fall on top of your soldiers, walls can be breached, and barrels can be manipulated. Any player-generated kingdom can also be downloaded through the game’s nonsynchronous multiplayer mode.
“The fate of an empire is in your hands.”
The epic mayhem of Empire of Ember is on full display with the gameplay trailer that was released last month. It blends action and control scenes, with the player engaging in calamitous battles engulfed in indie blood and magic. Accompanied by gorgeous landscapes and courageous fantasy music, the trailer for Empire of Ember provides a sufficient tease of what to expect.
Empire of Ember‘s writing is helmed by former Telltale Games lead writer Patrick Kevin Day. Its development and publishing are being handled by Poleaxe Games, who are also looking for playtesters. The game will launch on Steam this summer, but you can visit their Steam page now to sign up for playtesting.
