Many heists and robberies have gone down in history for being well thought out and even unsolved to this day. On the other hand, many robberies have gone wrong at every turn, much like this one. A camera at a gas station captured the moment a man’s car was stolen, only for officers to already be on the scene as the car pulled away. Fortunately, the entire video was saved and then reposted to Reddit for everyone to see.
The video is from the point of view of a security camera at a gas station in an undisclosed area. You can see a gentleman finish pumping gas into his car and then go to the pump to proceed to pay. If you pay close enough attention, you can also see another man walking to the passenger side of the car, which is open, and climb inside. It appears that the man pumping gas did not notice because just as he had his back turned from the car, the man who had snuck inside drove away with it.
It’s likely that the car thief didn’t get very far, considering that right after he left with the car, he was followed by officers who were also trying to pump gas. It’s unclear if the car thief was apprehended, but there’s no way he got very far. Many commenters feel the same, wondering what must have gone through his head while he committed the crime.
“there’s poor planning and not thinking things through,…. and then there’s this.”
I have to agree with them. I don’t see how anyone could try to steal something as large as a car and not have been a little bit more prepared beforehand. However, it looks like we won’t have to worry about him trying to steal any more cars in the near future.
