The Mandalorian season 3 is finally here. While the show has managed to successfully stand on its own, it has had some help from other classic Star Wars characters. Boba Fett, Ahsoka Tano, and Luke Skywalker are just a few of the returning characters. This opened the door wide open for other Star Wars characters to appear. While the show far from needs help from the reaches of the galaxy, fans would enjoy seeing their favorite characters appear, and here are ten of them.
10. C-3PO
A brief cameo from C-3PO would be a welcome addition to Mandalorian Season 3. His counterpart, R2D2, has already appeared in both the second season as well as the spin-off show The Book of Boba Fett. 3PO has appeared in nearly every project set in a galaxy far far away, so he needs to appear here. Luke has been shown in the trailers, so that stands to reason R2 may appear once more as well. Seeing the beloved droids reunited even briefly would be a treat for fans.
9. Jar Jar
Enough time has passed for Star Wars fans to admit Jar Jar isn’t that bad of a character. In fact, he even has a loyal fanbase. While admittedly getting a rocky start in Phantom Menace, his appearances in The Clone Wars have earned him a spot among other great characters. Not much is known about what happened to Jar Jar after Revenge of the Sith in the current canon. Having Mando encounter the former Senate representative in his travels would be a fun surprise. Plus, who wouldn’t want to see Jar Jar and Grogu together?
8. Captain Rex
Fans have long speculated that Captain Rex survived the events of Order 66. In fact, many suspects he joined the rebel alliance and fought in the Battle of Endor. There isn’t an official canon explanation as to his whereabouts post-Return of the Jedi, so Mandalorian could be a perfect place to retcon that. Several fan-favorite characters have made the jump from animation to live-action in The Mandalorian, so fans hope their favorite rouge clone will be among them.
7. Bossk
One of the most infamous Bounty Hunters of all time would fit right at home in Mandalorian season 3. The fading remnants of the Empire are likely still on the hunt for Grogu. It is likely Bossk will be hired to track him down and take out anyone in his way, including Din. Seeing the titular Mandalorian go tow to tow with the legendary Bossk will show just how capable Mando is, as this fight will put him to the ultimate test.
6. Iden Versio
One of the most underrated pieces of Star Wars media is the campaign mode for EA’s Battlefront II. The story mode follows Iden Versio. Iden was a loyal Imperial officer until she switched to being a Rebel following the Battle of Endor. Battlefront II’s campaign is currently canon, so it is very possible she will appear. Seeing how the Empire is still a thorn in Mando’s side, having an ex-Imperial officer helping him will prove invaluable.
5. Sabine Wren
Of all the characters on this list, Sabine is most likely to make an appearance. Sabine is an ex-Mandalorian who joined up with the Rebels. She was one of the main characters in the animated series Rebels and is set to make her live-action debut in the Ahsoka series. Having ties to Madalore could give her much to discuss with Din. Seeing the two converse would be great for fans and could lead to character development for Din. She is also no stranger to the Dark Saber, which Din currently wields. She will likely make a surprise appearance before her Ahsoka debut.
4. Obi-Wan
It is unlikely the famed Jedi will make an appearance, but fans are still hoping to see Ewan Mcgregor return in Mandalorian season 3. The show, of course, follows the events of the original trilogy. This means Kenobi has already fallen at the hands of his former apprentice. However, it is possible for Kenobi to appear as a force ghost. Seeing Ewan McGregor play an older Obi-Wan who talks with Luke or Ahsoka would be a fun surprise for fans. Ewan returning once may have spoiled fans, but that doesn’t mean wanting to see him return again is unwarranted.
3. Yoda
Like Obi-Wan, odds are fans won’t see other legendary Star Wars characters like Yoda make an appearance. Still, seeing a force ghost of Yoda is sure to put a smile on any fan’s face. The main reason fans would want to see Yoda is to see the Jedi Master interact with Grogu. Seeing these two talk through the force would be fan service overload and could lead to a touching moment. Luke has already mentioned his former master to Grogu, and the odds are good Grogu had met Yoda in the past. After all, Grogu studied at the Jedi Temple up until Order 66. The odds are excellent that they crossed paths at least once.
2. Anakin Skywalker
One of the best moments in Obi-Wan Kenobi was seeing the return of Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker. Fans have wanted Hayden back ever since Disney bought Lucasfilm, and they got their wish. It seems Hayden isn’t done with the character, as he will once again return in the Ahsoka series. Seeing Ahsoka and Anakin interact in live-action will be incredible, but Mandalorian offers something even better. Fans would get the chance to see Anakin and Luke interact on screen, which is more than enough to warrant a return.
1. Admiral Thrawn
Fans have been holding their breath for the live-action debut of Grand Admiral Thrawn. Mandalorian season 3 could finally deliver him. When Ahsoka appeared in season 2, she claimed she was looking for Thrawn. This left the door wide open for a live-action appearance. Odds are great he will be the primary antagonist in the Ahsoka series, although no casting has been announced yet. Keeping his casting a secret only for him to appear in Mandalorian Season 3 would be an incredible surprise to be sure, but a welcome one.
