The video game League of Legends will be coming to the world of comics. Marvel and Riot Games announced they will be publishing a graphic novel surrounding the multiplayer online battle arena game set for release in 2019.
Announcing the news on Marvel’s official website, the series is an origins story following Ashe, one of the first original champion from League of Legends.
Titled League of Legends Ashe: Warmother, the graphic novel will reveal how Iceborn warrior Ashe got her start as a champion. It will focus on the master archer and how she handles leading the people of Freljord. Editor-in-Chief of Marvel had this to say about the graphic novel.

Cebulski, Editor-in-Chief of Marvel. “’League of Legends’ is one of the most well-known games in the industry, and their unique world and extensive roster of rich characters and are a perfect fit for comic books. We’re excited to partner with Riot and help build the League of Legends Universe for fans and players around the world.”
It is being written by Riot Games writer Odin Austin Shafer and is his first time writing for a comic. The art is being done by a nominee for The Russ Manning Most Promising Newcomer Award, Nina Vakueva. Who took to social media with this amazing sketch moments after the announcement.

Fans can pick up a physical copy of League of Legends: Ashe: Warmother when it hits shelves in May of 2019. Part one of the series releases digitally Wednesday, December 19.
