“Whatever happened to Earth’s Mightiest Heroes?” the trailer for Heroes Reborn begs to question, where the Avengers never existed. Following a small series of teasers (where Wolverine leads a different team and Phil Coulson runs for office), the official announcement trailer bundled in a wild mixture of unexpected events from a Marvel comic book series.
A World Without The Avengers in Heroes Reborn
In Heroes Reborn, several imperative events in the Marvel universe don’t seem to have occurred. Captain America remains frozen, Tony Stark never becomes the walking tank known as Iron Man, and Thor has not picked up the hammer. Only the Supreme Squadron saves the world from dangers, but to the knowledge of Blade, the Avengers did exist – somehow. Within this breach of reality lies a great journey for Blade to embark on. Upon waking up in a world where everything has shifted, who knows who or what could be behind this.
Heroes Reborn comes from the brilliant mind of Jason Aaron, who’s known for his Marvel work with Ghost Rider, Wolverine, and Avengers. The fractured reality narrative in Heroes Reborn follows up after the events of the Avengers series by Aaron. In addition, the following quote from Aaron emphasizes the impact he’s had with the new series:
I got to cut loose on this and release my inner comic-reared child in a really profound way, and together with a cadre of immensely imaginative artists, we built a world that I’m pretty confident in saying is quite unlike any version of the Marvel Universe you’ve seen before. It grew out of the pages of my Avengers run, but kept getting bigger and bigger as it went, and the more pieces I put in place for this Reborn world, the more gleeful and excited I became. This project really stoked the fires of my love for comics in all the right ways.”
