Marvel’s Spider-Man Leads The First Avengers Of 2099

Along with introducing the most bizarre Moon Knight, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2099: Exodus debuts the new Avengers of 2099. Written by Steve Orlando (Marauders, The Darkhold), pencils by Ze Carlos (Fantastic Four: Life Story), Spider-Man 2099: Exodus sees the future New York City (Nueva York) compete for control over the lifeless body of a celestial. The Celestial crashing into the wastelands outside of Nueva York has triggered the growth of a new Garden of Eden. As Miguel O’Hara (Spider-Man of 2099) discusses the death of Loki with Lyla, his AI assistant, he receives a transmission from Moon Knight. Somebody that has been hiding out and healing on Earth’s moon.

Who Are The New Avengers In 2099?

“You’ll forgive me for silencing your familiar,” Moon Knight says. He goes on to tell Miguel O’Hara about the time the Avengers lost to the Masters of Evil and died. “The Avengers weren’t disassembled,” he says. “We were disemboweled.” After giving him the history lesson, Moon night instills hope in Miguel by presenting him hope for the future. “The Masters weren’t the only ones watching Earth,” he starts.

“From the moment I rose, I’d searched. Stoked the fires. Sought out the spiteful living. Those with friends, family, lovers and heroes… Waiting to be avenged. Those like you, Spider-Man.”

Miguel informs Moon Knight that Norman Osborn has his Masters of Evil and that he can’t stand against them on his own. He mentions that Asgard turned him down. So, Moon Knight informs the webhead that he will not be alone.

The Avengers of 2099 do just as their name suggests and avenge those that the Masters of Evil wronged. After a climactic battle with the Masters in the outskirts of Nueva York, Miguel and Khonshu’s avatar realize Osborn never showed, meaning Norman orchestrated the entire fight. Now Miguel has the Masters of Evil’s black cards, making them mortal, and he resolves to destroy them. Spider-Man tells his new ally from the moon that the next place he needs to go is Latveria.
