In an exclusive interview with CBR, Al Ewing revealed that Marvel’s Storm will be getting a new love interest soon. While the comics writer didn’t reveal exactly who that love interest would be, he did offer two options that are off the table. Plus, he delved into what is in store for the weather-wielding mutant in Storm & The Brotherhood of Mutants and beyond.
The Love Life of Marvel’s Storm
Fans of the X-Men and other Marvel titles will know that Storm’s biggest love interest came in the form of her ex-husband T’Challa. Or, as he is often known, the Black Panther. While that relationship is no more due to some differences of opinions, it seems Storm is ready to get back out there. In his sit down with CBR, Ewing was asked about the solicits that seem to point towards a new romantic interest for the powerful mutant. Not one to be coy, the writer admitted that someone has caught Storm’s eye and they will be revealed real soon. In fact, you find out who it is in the early pages of issue #11.
Of course, Ewing didn’t want to give everything away and did not share exactly who that person is. However, he did address the rumors he has already seen online. While many think it is Nova, simply because she smiled at him once upon a time, it is not him. As Ewing puts it, “I cannot even imagine the chaotic chemistry of that pairing”.
Furthermore, Ewing took another option off the table. While the Storm and Logan pairing is one many readers hope for, including Ewing himself, this new love interest is not Storm’s old teammate and friend. That’s two options down, only hundreds more to go.
What Else Did Al Have to Say?
Beyond love interests, Al Ewing shared some other tidbits. For instance, there are some plans brewing for one Roberto Da Costa. Plus, Nova, while not catching Storm’s heart, does have a part to play in this series. In short, it is going to be a wild ride for these mutants. One any fan will not want to miss.
You can catch up with Marvel’s Storm and the rest of the Brotherhood in Storm & The Brotherhood of Mutants #2 on sale March 22. Meanwhile X-Men Red #11 hits shelves on May 10.
