Thunderbolts is an upcoming Marvel Studios movie spotlighting underdog and anti-hero characters from the past phases. This includes heroes like Bucky Barnes, a.k.a. The Winter Soldier, Ghost Rider, Red Guardian, Yelena Belova, and many more on the team. However, due to the situation caused by the 2023 WGA Strike, Marvel’s Thunderbolts release date has been delayed.
2023 WGA Strike Results in Marvel’s Thunderbolts Release Date Delay
The Thunderbolts started as a comic book series in 1997. Now, Marvel Studios has decided to create a movie based on those stories. This movie is to bring together a band of anti-heroes, with The Winter Soldier as the team leader. However, a writer strike, namely the 2023 WGA Strike, caused Marvel’s Thunderbolts to delay its release date. Initially, the movie was set to begin filming in Atlanta in June of this year, with a release window in July of 2024.
With these writer strikes taking place, it has many writers tied up and not working on projects such as The Thunderbolts. This means that the new movie will be delayed further; however, the strike continues. It is hard to say further this strike will continue another couple of weeks or even longer and how far out this will delay Thunderbolts. There isn’t any telling how many months this could push the movie back before it can be released.
Thunderbolts has been officially delayed, and there’s yet to be a sight for us on when we will get a release date or how far it is pushed out. We can only hope that the impact of the strike does not significantly affect the cinema quality of our favorite superhero franchises. For now, the other Marvel Studios projects, such as Captain America: New World Order and the third Deadpool, are still developing along in production as normal. Stay tuned for more updates on Marvel’s Thunderbolts.
