Two of Peter Parker’s greatest loves are teaming up in the upcoming Mary Jane & Black Cat series. These two fierce women take center stage in a new limited series from writer Jed MacKay. The five-issue series will tie directly into the upcoming Dark Web event that brings Spider-Man, the X-Men, and Venom together.
How Did This Mary Jane & Black Cat Team Up Happen?
Jed MacKay has been hard at work sending Black Cat on a series of adventures throughout the Marvel Universe. Recently, the sometime-love interest for Spider-man has starred in back-to-back solo series. She is currently starring in the limited Iron Cat series. Now, this thief-turned-hero continues her transformative journey with MJ along for the ride. To handle such a feat, MacKay is joined by talented artist Vincenzo Carratu for his Marvel Comics debut.
Of course, this isn’t the first time the two women have teamed up. Earlier this year, the two joined forces to save Peter Parker in the Mary Jane & Black Cat: Beyond #1 one-shot. This time around, the two find themselves thrown into each other’s way as they are transported to the demonic dimension of Limbo. However, there is something different about Mary Jane, and she isn’t the only one keeping secrets. Black Cat has a guilty conscience, which is getting in the way of their escape plans.
What Else Do We Know?
With the series set for a December 21 debut, it is a while before we will see Black Cat and MJ raising some hell in Limbo. That means we won’t have a lot of information on what will happen for a little while. However, MacKay promises that it will be worth the wait. Speaking to Marvel, the writer shared that getting back to writing MJ and Black Cat after their one-shot has been a delight. Plus, seeing how they’ve been catching up on all that happened in the interim has been, as MacKay puts it, catnip!
Mary Jane & Black Cat #1 is on sale December 21.
