Mass Effect Legendary Edition is no stranger to player choice, including many choices to make throughout the series’ three installments. Each one has a varying degree of impact, from very little to quite substantial. One of those very choices comes minutes prior to Mass Effect 1’s ending credits, where Shepard’s role in the fight against Saren and defense of the Citadel is being discussed. The council wishes to bring another member to represent the human race, leaving Shepard the choice between Ambassador Udina or Captain Anderson. If you find yourself struggling to choose between the two, no need to worry. In this guide, we’ll help you decide between choosing Udina or Anderson for a role on the council in Mass Effect Legendary Edition.
Anderson or Udina for the Council in Mass Effect Legendary Edition?
Just to get it out of the way now, this choice doesn’t have much impact on the story as a whole. By the events of Mass Effect 3, Captain Anderson will inevitably not be a member of the council anymore, being replaced by Ambassador Udina. It does change some minor events for Mass Effect 2 though. If you end up choosing the hardened politician in Ambassador Udina, he will end up hurting Shepard’s efforts to prepare for the Reapers at every turn. It won’t have much of an overarching impact, but it’ll be one more voice opposing their knowledge of the incoming threat. On the other hand, if you choose Captain Anderson, he’ll support Shepard in their quest to stop the Reapers and won’t push the council to ignore the threat.
While this choice may seem deeper than it actually is, you’ll still likely have a better time choosing Captain Anderson. The choice will feel much more supportive for Shepard’s future endeavors as compared to the cold demeanor of Udina. It may not matter too much, but he’s still the better choice in most players’ opinions.
