Jedi and Sith alike, today is all about you! Star Wars Day is upon us, and May the Fourth celebrations have started.
For all of you Padawans wondering what the hype is about, it’s simple. Star Wars Day is an unofficial holiday celebrated every year by wishing fans from this star system and the next a hearty “May the Fourth be with you”. The unofficial holiday reportedly began back to 1979 when Margaret Thatcher took office as U.K. prime minister. The London Evening News created a headline that read “May the Fourth Be With You, Maggie. Congratulations.”, a nod to the famous “May the force be with you, Luke.” The occasion is now celebrated as a day to enjoy the saga all across the galaxy. This year’s May 4th is extra special since it is the holiday after the release of The Force Awakens, and the one before the highly anticipated Rogue One.
So grab your trusted lightsaber, hone your skill with The Force, and take a look at what we can look forward to during this year’s celebrations.
