Netflix releases The Witcher: Blood Origin trailer, starring Michelle Yeoh
The first introduction of Michelle Yeoh in The Witcher universe was from a teaser dropped after the season 2 finale of the main series back in December 2021. Fans got a brief meeting with her character, Scian, the final member of her elf tribe. When the series drops, we will get to meet the rest of the cast, including Lenny Henry (The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power), Dylan Moran (Shaun of the Dead), Zach Wyatt (Karen Pirie), Jacob Collins-Levy (Young Wallander), and Sophia Brown (The Capture).
The upcoming prequel was created by Declan De Barra, a writer on the original series based on the books by Andrzej Sapkowski. The creator also executive produces on top of writing duties. Matt McInnis, Matthew O’Toole, Kiersten Van Horne, Tomasz Baginski, Jason F. Brown, Sean Daniel, Jaroslaw Sawko, and Lauren Schmidt executive produce too. Michelle Camp, Sasha Harris, Sean Guest, and Alex Meenehan produce.
While The Witcher has become a tentpole franchise for Netflix, especially when bringing star power like Michelle Yeoh, things have been shaken up. Henry Cavill shocked fans by announcing his exit after season 3. As a fan of the novels and games by developer CD Projekt Red, he seemed determined for the seven-season plan but will leave and be replaced by Liam Hemsworth. No reason for his departure has been confirmed.
