Pigs in Minecraft are a great source of food for those playing in Survival Mode, and breeding them is paramount for amassing loads of cooked pork. Pigs are a common passive mob in Minecraft that can spawn anywhere grass is found, excluding Snowy Plains, Meadows, and Wooded Badlands. They will appear in groups of 4 in areas where the Light is at a level of 9 or higher. In Bedrock Edition, 1-3 pigs will spawn on grass blocks at a Light Level of 7 or more. Minecraft players can also find pigs in villages within animal pens, stables, or near Butcher Villager workshops.
How to Breed Pigs in Minecraft
Once players encounter pigs in Minecraft, they can lure to an area using carrots, potatoes, or beetroots. Holding one of the vegetables, be sure to stay within a six-block range; otherwise, the pigs will lose interest. After bringing two together or walling a few within a fence, feed them any of the previously mentioned Minecraft produce to breed the pigs.

Carrots and potatoes in Minecraft are commonly found within chests in shipwrecks or Pillager Outposts. Yet, the best way to obtain them is by checking villages for carrot or potato farms. They both have a 20% chance of spawning in any Overworld village. On the other hand, Beetroots come exclusively from villages and are a rarer spawn than carrots or potatoes.
When breeding, it doesn’t matter which food item is fed to Minecraft pigs. For instance, players can feed one pig a carrot and give another a beetroot, yet both will still spawn a piglet. Minecraft pigs can breed every 5 minutes, and their piglets will become an adult within 20 minutes. Players can speed up the maturity process by 10% by feeding the baby pigs any of the three vegetables mentioned above.
Minecraft is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox One X|S, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Android, and iOS.
