Minecraft Legends Steam Deck Settings
First and foremost, Minecraft Legends does not natively run on Steam OS right now, as it runs on an external launcher. You can fiddle around with the Steam Deck’s settings for Minecraft Legends, Proton Experimental, or the newly released Proton 8 but to no avail. So, you’ll have to go the route of playing Minecraft Legends on the Steam Deck using Windows 10 or Xbox Gamepass Cloud Gaming.
- Play Via Windows 10: To install Windows 10 on the Steam Deck, you must use Rufus to create a Windows bootable microSD card. After it’s all said and done, load up the microSD Card, boot it into the Steam Deck’s boot manager, and fire up Windows 10. Make sure to install all the necessary Windows 10 drivers for the Steam Deck. Also, install SWICD to ensure the Steam Deck controller and touchpad work on Windows 10. You can now install Minecraft Legends on the Steam Deck via the Steam Store, Xbox PC Game Pass, or the Microsoft Store.
- Xbox Game Pass Cloud Gaming: You can also go the route of playing the game on SteamOS using Xbox PC Gamepass’s Cloud Gaming Service if you have a stable internet connection. To ensure a seamless cloud gaming experience, make sure to turn off Wifi Power Saving after you enable developer mode.
Now, onto the Steam Deck Settings for Minecraft Legends:

Minecraft Legends Steam Deck – Performance
We hope Microsoft figures out to make the game run natively on SteamOS, which will hopefully be integrated down the line. Still, Minecraft Legends runs extremely well, even on Ultra Detail on Valve’s Deck. But if you want a bit of extra performance paired with battery life longevity, stick to high rendering detail. The game looks gorgeous and runs at a solid 60 FPS on the Steam Deck via Windows 10.
And that’s pretty much all you need to know to get Minecraft Legends up and running on the Deck paired with the most optimal settings, for now. We’ll keep you updated on any SteamOS compatibility later down the line. Till then, stay tuned for more only on The Nerd Stash.
