As Minecraft has evolved over the years, various Overworld, Nether, and End dimension structures have added new ways to explore the world. One of the many features you may stumble upon during your playthroughs is the Ocean Monument. This guide will explain everything you need to know about Ocean Monuments in Minecraft Bedrock and Java Editions.
Ocean Monuments in Minecraft Java and Bedrock Editions
The Ocean Monument is an underwater building you may encounter in the deep oceans of the Overworld. It is one of the few structures you can find underwater alongside Ocean Ruins and Shipwrecks. However, it is also one of the largest structures in the game and one of the rarest. Like Ocean Ruins, you can find a massive number of prismarine blocks making up the monument. You can also find gold blocks and sponges throughout the building. While you are not guaranteed to find either, they commonly spawn within the Ocean Monument.

If you are playing at any difficulty other than peaceful, you will encounter various hostile monsters around the monument. You will likely find Guardians and Elder Guardians that spawn exclusively around the Ocean Monument. Each mob can deal anywhere from one heart of health upwards of six depending on your game difficulty, so wearing protective armor will help you stay safe against their attacks. In particular, their laser attacks deal a significant amount of damage and can hit you from up to 14 blocks away. Elder Guardians can also inflict the Mining Fatigue effect on you. Bringing a bucket of milk and drinking it will help negate the effect of the debuff. You may also encounter Drowned zombies since they commonly spawn throughout the ocean.
Minecraft is available on PC, Android, iOS, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation platforms.
