Kyoto Animation, the studio behind Free! and A Silent Voice, gave a release window for the second season of Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid. While an official date has yet to be announced, fans of the anime can expect to see episodes airing in 2021.
The news, along with a visual for season two, was announced on the official Dragon Maid Twitter earlier this week. To commemorate the new season, the new title is Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid S, which stands for “Super Supreme Second Life Start”.
Fans are sure to see the same hilarious hi-jinx from Tohru and the gang from the first season:
Miss Kobayashi is your average office worker who lives a boring life, alone in her small apartment–until she saves the life of a female dragon in distress. The dragon, named Tohru, has the ability to magically transform into an adorable human girl (albeit with horns and a long tail!), who will do anything to pay off her debt of gratitude, whether Miss Kobayashi likes it or not. With a very persistent and amorous dragon as a roommate, nothing comes easy, and Miss Kobayashi’s normal life is about to go off the deep end!
The second season was originally announced back in April 2019. A few months after the announcement, Kyoto Animation suffered a devastating tragedy after a man set fire to the studio, and over 30 employees lost their lives last July. President of Kyoto Animation Hideaki Hatta commented on the year anniversary of the tragedy, “Being one in heart with our friends, their family members and those who support us, we will go forward step by step, albeit slowly.”
The first season of Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid is available (subbed and dubbed) on Crunchyroll and Funimation.
