Netflix released the first trailer for Money Shot, the streamer’s documentary on Pornhub (seen below). The footage shows how much it will unpack about the website, from the mistreatment of sex workers, scandals about sex trafficking, and the site’s impact on the porn industry.
The footage in the Pornhub documentary shows various interviews with subjects across different career paths and histories with porn, from activists to sex workers. Some subjects talk about the positives of pornography as a way of self-expression or a career path to independently make money. Others criticized it, specifically how the website buried scandals and protected itself against sex trafficking. It also dives into the data collection from the porn site, which is an issue that tech giants like Facebook and Google have faced scrutiny for years over.

The film is directed by Suzanne Hillinger, who was nominated for an Emmy for her work on American Masters. She produces with Nicki Carrico and Erin Edeiken. Stacey Offerman and Richard Perello will executive produce.
The Pornhub documentary looks to be giving a possibly fair look at the industry from various points of view, which shows the struggle of covering the topic due to that nuance. Sex workers will talk about their successes and struggles to make a living. Activists will shine a light on the company’s scandalous actions, like shutting down scrutiny and denying allegations of any wrongdoing.
The site launched in 2007. In the digital age, it changed how porn was distributed, which could be risky online and hard to reach for audiences prior to the internet. Its YouTube-like format boomed for creators and audiences while facing issues of underage users, sex trafficking, data collection, and under paying sex workers.
Money Shot: The Pornhub Story will be available on Netflix on March 15.
