One of the new features introduced in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak is Anomaly Investigations, missions that function similarly to Anomaly Quests but with a unique twist. However, to enlighten those who’ve yet to complete the Sunbreak expansion, Anomaly Quests are hunts that task Hunters with taking down an Afflicted Monster, a beast that’s been influenced by the Quiro, the leech-like butterfly creatures that drain the life from flora and fauna. The monsters affected by these creatures become significantly stronger and more aggressive. Unable to be captured, these targets can only be slain. Accordingly, these are the target monsters that players must hunt in the new Anomaly Investigations of Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak.
Anomaly Investigations In Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak
Anomaly Investigations in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak are Anomaly Quests that randomize the parameters of the hunt, including the target monster, the locale, and the number of Hunters. In other words, any monster that players have hunted in MR has a chance of appearing in Anomaly Investigations within any region’s map. These missions can be solo, duo, trio, or quartet-oriented.

Randomization is the aspect of the Anomaly Investigations in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak that determines the objective of an Anomaly Quest. However, there is more to these investigations than RNG-generated hunts. As Hunters complete Anomaly Investigations, they will receive special coin-like points, a resource used for upgrading a new shop in Elgado known as the Anomaly Research Lab. This research facility is run by Bahari, the Wyverian Scientist whom players meet during the Sunbreak expansion story. As the Anomaly Research Lab increases in level, new materials for Qurious Crafting will be available for sale within the store. These items are not purchased using Kamura Points or Zenny but instead are obtained from resources earned from Anomaly Investigations.
The Anomaly Research Lab’s progression also affects the kinds of investigations available within the Anomaly Quest list. For instance, those with a high-level lab can take on tougher monsters and Elder Dragons for better rewards. These rewards can then be taken to the Smithy and used to further enhance gear via Qurious Crafting. By utilizing this end-game system, players can modify weapons stats like Attack Power or Affinity. An additional feature is the ability to reroll the functionality of one’s armor. For example, if there’s a stat bonus that the player does not want for their set, they can reroll the gear piece’s functionality through materials gathered from Anomaly Investigations.
Monster Hunter Rise is available on PC and Nintendo Switch.
