With the 1.2.0 Title Update, two Deviants from Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate — Hellblade Glavenus and Boltreaver Astalos — come to Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin. Deviant monsters don’t just have cool names and looks, these high-tier monsters are coveted thanks to their power that rivals even the Elder Dragons. For that reason, let’s take a look at how you can obtain yourself a Boltreaver Astalos as a Monstie in Monster Hunter Stories 2.
Monster Hunter Stories 2 – How To Get Boltreaver Astalos
To get a Boltreaver Astalos egg, you need to take on the newly added “Co-Op Quest ★8:(Explore) Thunder Egg” from the Quest Board. As you can expect, this is a quest where you go in with another Rider. Although if you want to play alone, a randomized AI Rider will be accompanying you instead. I suggest you look for a real co-op partner though since the AI Rider can be a bit of a handful if you’re unlucky.
Aside from a chance of getting a Boltreaver Astalos egg, all eggs in this quest contain Thunder element Monsties. Making it perfect for farming Thunder monsters like Zinogre or Rajang, and you might also want to use a higher tier of Expedition Tickets to get better eggs during the quest. Don’t forget to apply the Finding Charm (save your Prayers, though) for an increased chance of getting rare Genes.
The “★8:(Explore) Thunder Egg Co-Op Quest” will only be finished after you (hopefully together with your partner) defeats Boltreaver Astalos in the last nest. Boltreaver Astalos itself is a Technical-type monster that is weak against Ice element attacks. And these are the best weapon types you can use to break each body part of the thunder-clad Flying Wyvern:
- Head: Blunt
- Stomach: Slash, Pierce
- Wings: Pierce
- Tail: Pierce
For more details about its weakness, you can head over to our Monsters Weaknesses list guide. Once you beat it, you will get the materials to let you craft the Boltreaver+ Armor. Containing Soul Kinship (XL), Vicious (L), and Partner (L). If you need more materials later on August 19, the “★9: (Slay) Boltreaver Astalos” Quest and “★8: Lighting Revolt” Subquest will be added as well. Meanwhile, as a Monstie Boltreaver Astalos will have unique skills called:
- Azure Voltage – Thunderclad Gene (XL), Level 15: Increases Thunder attack and defense for 5 turns. Charges up power for 2 turns.
- Blue Plasma – Thunder Breath Gene (XL), Level 30: Technical type. Deals heavy Thunder damage to all enemies. Medium chance to inflict Paralysis for 3 turns.
And that’s it, good luck on your hunts and ransacking monsters’ nests! Don’t forget to check our other guides on Tribes of Midgard, Genshin Impact, and others. Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin is now available on Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam.
