About the MOVO UM700 USB Microphone
Design:
The design of this microphone is traditional and does not offer RGB lighting and other customizable features that might appeal to someone. It offers the simplicity of being a true plug-and-play device. Even so, it is a sleek-looking microphone with a solid metal build.
The cylindrical unit features the capsule covered in mesh wire at the top. On the metal body below the capsule, several components can be found. The mute button (which tends to be a little “clicky”) and volume dial (for the connected headphone) are located on the front while the gain control dial and the pattern selection dial can be found on the back.
On the bottom, you will find a USB port and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. By default, it comes with a swivel stand but, if you prefer a boom arm, this microphone offers a 5/8″ thread on the bottom which will allow you to mount it with very little hassle.
Overall, this microphone looks very professional.
Patterns:
The MOVO UM700 offers four polar patterns with the following choices:
- Stereo – realistic sound – ideal for recording music
- Cardioid – concentrated pickup- ideal for desktop or solo use
- Omnidirectional – 360-degree audio – ideal for group meetings
- Bi-directional – front/rear pickup – Useful in 1 on 1 interviews or podcasts
These patterns can be easily selected using the dial located on the microphone.
Audio Quality:
The three-capsule array offers the following sound quality:
- Broadcast Quality Sound Resolution: 48kHz/16 Bit (no-latency)
- Frequency response: 20Hz to 20kHz
With the same sound frequency found in the Blue Yeti (20-20,000Hz), the quality was everything you would need.
Other Features:
- The ability to collapse the microphone makes it portable and easy to store.
- Use your Windows PC or Mac via USB to plug and play and get started! It appears to be that simple.
