SEGA’s Hyena is a new multiplayer, hero-based extraction shooter where players get to hone specialists with all sorts of weapons, abilities, and a little bit of personality. You get to form a trio and stage a robbery. But their newest character is sure to turn some heads. Hyena’s new specialist, Hero ki, is a Sonic fanboy!
Hero Ki – Hyena’s Sonic-inspired Specialist
It’s not surprising that Creative Assembly’s Hyena got a Sonic-inspired specialist considering Hynea IS being published by Sega. Their newest specialist is named Hero Ki, who is somewhat of a celebrity.
“Armed with a specially modified camera to capture a target’s likeness and cosplay as them, Hero-Ki can use his penchant for disguise to evade threats and exploit the environment in Hyenas, as only the sharpest-eyed rival will be able to detect the clues that reveal him as an imposter.” – SEGA
“The studio’s taking that well-worn line of this being a ‘player first’ form of development, but it does feel that way, with a genuine emphasis on trying things out with players testing it in alpha (a proper alpha, not a glorified demo) and no commitment to any meaningful release window until the studio’s happy with how Hyenas feels to play.” – Chris in Hynea’s Preview
So far, we haven’t received a release date for Hyena. But it’s expected to come to PS5, Xbox Series S|X, and PC. And last-gen console users can rejoice, too, because they aren’t being left out.
If you’re interested in a PayDay-style shooter with loads of action and personality-whipped characters, then you should keep Hyena on your radar. And it appears Hyena’s Sonic Specialist is just the start.
So, what do you think of Hyena so far? Will you try it out once the game releases? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
Hyena is set to release on the Xbox Series S|X, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and PC.
