Multiversus, the promising Warner Bros take on the 2D competitive fighter genre, has today announced it will begin its open beta later this month on July 26! Even better, early access for the open beta will be available for closed alpha players starting July 19. Alongside the news, the team released a new gameplay trailer which you can find below.
Multiversus Breaks Into Public Release
Multiversus, as somewhat mentioned above, is Warner Bros attempt to get into the 2D competitive fighter space. Featuring iconic characters such as Steven Universe from the series of the same name, Bugs Bunny, Finn and Jake from Adventure Time, and more, brawl it out in 1v1 or 2v2 scenarios in an effort to knock your opponent out of the arena entirely. If you’ve played games like Super Smash Bros or Brawlhalla, then this should feel quite familiar to you. Though with that being said, a number of additions help to make Multiversus feel rather unique in its open beta.
For those well aware of everything this game offers, there’s something for you as well. Once the open beta officially drops, you’ll get access to the new Iron Giant character. This tank has such abilities as Superman (which flies him up heroically), Bolt Friends (which summons armor), and Blast Radius (which creates an area of fire on the ground). While not such great news if you mainly play more damage-oriented characters, any more variety to the roster is always welcome.
