My Friend Pedro is a strange, yet very enjoyable game from Devolver Digital. The fluidity of its combat and movement combined with its wacky premise and story make it a game anyone should play. Fellow writer Juan reviewed it on the PS4 and loved it, and the same went for me when I played. If you haven’t gotten the chance to play it, you definitely should. Unexpectedly though, is the news that My Friend Pedro is getting a TV adaptation through John Wick creator Derek Kolstad. The news was originally announced through a piece by the Hollywood Reporter.
According to HR, My Friend Pedro will become an R-rated, half-hour dramedy series written and directed by John Wick’s creator. This all comes together through a collaboration from Legendary Television, DJ2 Entertainment, and 87North Productions. Given that the story will likely coincide with the game, My Friend Pedro follows the story of a man who must fight with the mafia alongside a sentient banana named Pedro. The adventures they get up to will likely be comical and gruesome, so needless to say I’m excited.
Additional details haven’t been revealed yet, but we’ll likely get more as development makes its way through. It may be a long time away, but I hope you’re as excited as I am. My Friend Pedro went on to win several awards, including a nomination for Fresh Indie Game at the 2019 Game Awards. It’s a great title for sure, and this adaptation should only improve its status even more.
For those that haven’t played, you can play My Friend Pedro through PC, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Game Pass, and Nintendo Switch. We’d love to hear your thoughts on this idea.
