So apparently this My Hero Academia manga/anime has gotten to be kind of a big thing. You’ve got all sorts of people gathered together in this special school for developing superpow – excuse me, in this universe they’re called “quirks.” And here you have All Might, the resident Superman, whose quirk allows him to store up power and willingly pass it on to another person. In other words… he’s a walking battery?
The teaser above is from a nine-page story called No.0 All Might Rising. It shows a younger All Might crying out for his former mentor just before she apparently endows him with her power. To save you the trouble of translating, the text is nothing too revealing. All Might yells “Master” and Nana’s dialogue simply spells out his name.
There’ll be more to Vol.Origin than backstory. One Piece author Oda Eiichirou will meet with My Hero Academia‘s creator Kohei Horikoshi. The authors illustrated a signed drawing of their respective protagonists to commemorate the occasion. Maybe they’ll team up again sometime to do a true collaboration side story?
My Hero Academia currently consists of 19 chapters in Japan and 13 in English, with the next one releasing in about a week. The anime comprises 55.5 episodes (one of which is still on the way here in the west), with a couple (the .5 one) being recaps from previous seasons. So there’s plenty of material to work with, provided Hollywood hasn’t made you sick to the stomach of superheros yet.
