The battle royale genre has been around for a while now, and at this point, everyone is throwing their hat in the ring. Whether through cameos in Fortnite or solitary games, all the big companies are giving it a shot. There has even been some anime presence due to the Naruto Fortnite event. However, it was announced earlier today that the first anime-specific game would be coming soon. Bandai Namco has announced that their battle royale of choice will focus on My Hero Academia. Known as My Hero Academia: Ultra Rumble, it will bring quirks to all platforms.
Will Plus Ultra Spell Battle Royale Victory?
My Hero Academia: Ultra Rumble was announced in the latest Weekly Shonen Jump issue. As the first issue of the New Year, some exciting news was expected. Unfortunately, not much is known about the My Hero Academia battle royale right now. The two-page announcement gave little more than a tease about it. We do know it will be a classic 24-player brawl. The full cast of playable characters hasn’t been revealed. That said, images show us that All Might, Shigaraki, and our top three boys are ready to battle. It also seems the game may be based on the USJ arc of the anime.
Though images and info are scarce, some things can be gleaned from what we have. Battle royale mechanics have been reimagined for Ultra Rumble. Guns are now quirk techniques, and ammo is akin to the number of uses before exhaustion. It also seems there is a mechanic revolving around non-hero citizens. Hero players can save them, and villains can terrorize. This will likely give players a boost or items of some sort. Theories aside, this battle royale will bring something new.
My Hero Academia: Ultra Rumble will reveal plans for a closed beta sometime later this year. Hopefully, it does, as well as some of the other recent MHA games.
