Right as the finale airs tonight (August 19), the Nathan Fielder series The Rehearsal has been renewed for a second season by HBO. This comes just about a month since the comedy docuseries premiered on HBO Max.
The premise of The Rehearsal follows Nathan Fielder, who gets real people to prepare for a major moment. He and his team rehearse the scene with actors and sets as he learns his subjects. In one episode, the host learned everything he could about a guy who lied about a Master’s degree to his bar trivia team.
Nathan Fielder writes, executive produces, and directs The Rehearsal. Previous collaborators on his series Nathan for You, Carrie Kemper (Silicon Valley), and Eric Notarnicola (On Cinema) serve as co-writers for the series and co-executive producers. Dan McManus, Christie Smith, Dave Paige, and Clark Reinking are also executive producers. Davin Michaels, Amanda Schultz, Rachel Hein, and Adam Locke-Norton produce.
HBO renews the Nathan Fielder series The Rehearsal
For fans of Nathan Fielder, The Rehearsal fits with his style of comedy that got him his audience. His previous series, Nathan for You, followed a similar style of taking real people and putting them in ridiculous situations. It saw him help real small businesses make money with comedically unorthodox methods, like naming a coffee shop Dumb Starbucks or having a yogurt shop with a poo flavor. He is also known for Sasha Baron Cohen’s Who Is America? and The Disaster Artist.
The Rehearsal has been a hit with fans and critics. The series currently holds a 93% for its first season on Rotten Tomatoes. For the audience score, it is at an 86%.
The season 1 finale of The Rehearsal will air on HBO tonight and then be available to stream on HBO Max. All six episodes are currently available on HBO Max.
