Mark Millar’s popular limited series, Nemesis, returns next year. CBR has revealed that a new Nemesis series is set to launch in January 2023. It will come from Millar’s personal division at Netflix, Millarworld. The new series is written by Millar with art from legendary artist Jorge Jiménez.
What Do We Know About Nemesis?
The original Nemesis series launched back in 2010 under the Icon Comics imprint of Marvel. It attempted to answer the question of what would happen if Batman was more like the Joker. It follows supervillain Nemesis, who decides to bring chaos and destruction to Washington D.C. The series became so popular that a film was announced. However, several delays have left the movie up in the air for some time now.
In speaking on the new Nemesis series, artist Jimenez shared a little about what fans can expect. Obviously, the artist is excited to work closely with Millar on such a popular character. Not only has he admired him as a writer, but he considers him a “titan of the comic book world.” Speaking about the series, Jimenez shares that it has “everything I need to develop my style as an artist in a crazy way…without filters”. Plus, it plays effortlessly between “extremely harsh scenes” and hints of “badass humor.” As such, it was a challenge for the artist to keep up with the pace and keep it interesting.
What Else is Millar Up To?
Besides the return of Nemesis, Mark Millar is also working on a new series called Big Game. For this outing, the writer tapped X-Men artist Pepe Larraz. On teaming up with such great artists, Millar says he has been a fan of both for a long time. With Jimenez, Millar feels he is the best Batman artist of this century. Meanwhile, he thinks Larraz is the greatest X-Men artist of all time. As such, he feels he has stolen both Marvel and DC’s best and brightest for these series.
More information on the return of Nemesis and Big Game is sure to show up in the coming months. However, art previews will be available in the back of the current Magic Order and Prodigy series.
