Neon Abyss is coming to the Nintendo Switch later this month but you can get your hands on its demo today.
Team17 and Veewo Games’ newest project announced for PCs earlier this year and then announced it was making the trek over to consoles in June. Now you’ll be able to purchase this roguelite with a lot going on in a few weeks but you can see whether its worth the money right now.
Neon Abyss takes you on a wild ride into battle against the “new gods” as you do the bidding of one of the oldest gods around, Hades. Players will have to work through rooms filled with enemies to dispatch and a few mini-puzzles to overcome, in a bid to overthrow the Gods of Fast Food, Mobile Video, Plushies, and more.
There will be plenty of collectible items to snatch up and there’s also a feature where you can hatch and protect different pets. Each pet has special abilities that will aid players as they battle through the dungeons. Some even evolve as the action continues.
Permadeath isn’t a thing here, as each run will allow you to come back a bit stronger and better prepared. And you will apparently have to prepare for several runs.
Neon Abyss also features dynamically generated maps, over 400 items, dozens of monsters with different styles in an effort to make sure there’s a replayability factor.
Team17 is a rising star in the video game industry, attaching their names to recent titles such as Blasphemous, Moving Out, and Overcooked 2. Veewo doesn’t have a long resume in the gaming world just yet but they are the team behind the criminally underrated Phantom Cat series.
Neon Abyss is set to hit PCs, the Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch on July 14 and you can grab the demo for the Switch right now.
