A crossover title, Neptunia x Senran Kagura: Ninja Wars combines both games’ universes into Gamninjustri, a place where all manner of ninjas gathers. As the struggle for control increased between the Daimyos of the nations, tensions rose between the two great nations home to major schools of martial arts, The Compa Style and Honeypa Style. As the two camps compete to achieve hegemony, a mysterious army of mechanical ninjas attacks. The Steeme Legion leader, Yoh Gamer, then challenges the whole Gamnindustri world to participate in the Super NINJA War to decide the world’s strongest school.
The Action RPG features 10 playable characters to choose from. Including two new original characters; Yuuki, a “sexy ninja who likes princesses” voiced by Miku Itou (Kokoro Tsurumaki, BanG Dream!; Yuriko Nanao, THE iDOLM@STER: Million Live); and Yoh. Meanwhile from the Neptunia series are:
- Purple Heart, armed with a katana.
- Black Heart, wielding sai to battle.
- White Heart, with a spear as her weapon of choice.
- Green Heart, using a double-bladed sword.
And from the Senran Kagura series are:
- Asuka, from Hanzo Academy.
- Homura, the Hebijo Academy elite.
- Yumi, the Ice Queen of Gessen Academy.
- Miyabi of Hebijo Academy.
There’s also a mini-game called Peaches & Cream Meditation that allows players to “test their balance” with the PS4 motion controller. Successfully filling the Peach Gauge gives extra stat boosts in battle. And there’s post-game content, Yomi-Training, where you can play through eight different trials, each set with difficult restrictions to test your fighting prowess.
Although the Neptunia series is still going strong since its debut on PS3 in 2010, this is going to be Senran Kagura‘s latest title since the 2016 Estival Versus. Will the ninja girls series get another shot after this game? Only time will tell. Stay tuned at The Nerd Stash for more nerd and gaming updates.
