The fan-favorite Addams’ Family member Wednesday was a hit last year when the Wednesday series was released on Netflix Thanksgiving weekend. The series caused the world to go wild once everyone got on social media after binging the series. Yes, the main mystery of the series was solved, but many other larger ones had been teased in the final episode of season 1, leaving much room for more seasons. Fans have been hoping for season 2 since the series aired, and Netflix just revealed a new teaser that might be leading to that soon. Netflix’s latest post on social media was a series of question marks and clips from the season finale…and many are wondering if this is some kind of announcement that an official announcement of Wednesday season 2 might be coming.
Wednesday on Netflix Is So Close To Season 2
Wednesday got almost 6 billion views so far and got many positive reviews from fans. Jenna Ortega’s performance of Wednesday was an outstanding sight to see, with so many bits of pieces of the series still trending on social media. Honestly, Season 2 looks like it is already in the bag. However, there hasn’t been any word about whether the series will get more seasons since Netflix hasn’t given us any official news. This did happen with another Netflix Origin show, Outer Banks. It wasn’t renewed for a while, even after having done so well on their platform, but then it soon got renewed for its third season, releasing in February.
Last year Jenna Ortega spoke about some of the challenges of playing Wednesday. “We’ve never seen her as a teenage girl,” Ortega told Entertainment Weekly. She continues:
You know, it’s funny and sweet and almost charming to hear this eight-year-old’s obsession with murder and blood and guts. As she gets older, that nasty attitude or [those] biting remarks, it’s almost kind of hard to not make it sound like every other teenage girl. So, it’s like, how do we establish this character and give her the same fire without letting her become something that she’s not? Also, it’s eight-hour series so, for an emotionless character, there has to be some sort of an emotional arc.
Ortega then said, “that’s been really interesting to figure out in terms of, okay, well, she’s got to be able to push the story forward in some way but how do we keep her true to her deadpan self? It’s been a bit of a challenge and I’m curious to see how it plays. I’ve never had the opportunity to play an iconic character before. I know she’s well-loved and well-respected and I just don’t want to mess her up.”
