Netflix has released the trailer for the upcoming documentary Lewis Capaldi: How I’m Feeling Now. The documentary trailer features several highlights from the Scottish singer-songwriter’s career, which include TikTok videos, performances in stadiums, and Capaldi celebrating being number one in America. While it all comes off as something to celebrate, particularly when fans scream “Someone You Loved” back to Capaldi, the highlight reel immediately ends and shifts to Capaldi having a panic attack while a voice says, “Is it all worth it? Making you feel like this?” Capaldi has been open about extremely low points in his music career, and Netflix’s trailer for Lewis Capaldi: How I’m Feeling Now is bracing fans for an up-close look at those low points.
Lewis Capaldi Gets Vulnerable in ‘How I’m Feeling Now’ Trailer
Aside from his musical talent, Capaldi is known for being quite the comic. However, Capaldi has been very open about his mental health issues. The 26-year-old singer suffers from hypochondria, an anxiety disorder that causes people to fear that they are or may become terminally ill. Capaldi has said that his mother, a nurse, is the only one who can really help him through these attacks, and at times he’s had to sleep next to her. He even had to cancel a show at one point due to his disorder. Capaldi also suffers from Tourette’s Syndrome.
Capaldi says fame has only catapulted the issue, saying, “It never really reached a tipping point until after getting famous, I never had a panic attack until after I was famous, or after I was a musician or after I got to a height.” Fame can definitely come with a price, as Demi Lovato plans on exploring in her documentary on Hulu.
This will most certainly be explored in Netflix’s Lewis Capaldi: How I’m Feeling Now. In the trailer, Capaldi says, “I think I’ve never been more insecure in my life than I am now. And I think that’s got worse the more successful I’ve become.” He opens up about having waited his whole life to make his first album, but then having to deal with the pressure of getting a second album out in a short time frame.
While the documentary is going to take a long dark look into Capaldi’s mental health journey, the trailer also teases his commitment to healing and getting better for his fans. The trailer for Lewis Capaldi: How I’m Feeling Now suggests an emotional viewing experience, but not one completely void of the music and the whacky and entertaining personality that makes Lewis Capaldi so beloved by his fans.
Lewis Capaldi: How I’m Feeling Now will release on Netflix on April 5th.
