Get your favorite snacks and check out a movie, as Netflix has a release date and images (seen below) of the upcoming Blockbuster Video series. The show based on the once king of video rentals will premiere on November 3, with 10 half-hour episodes for its debut season.
The workplace comedy was created by Vanessa Ramos (Brooklyn Nine-Nine). It won’t be looking at the glory days when people had to go to a store to rent a movie, but the Netflix take will see the last Blockbuster in the middle of America. The cast of employees will struggle as they keep the store alive for as long as possible; the last store actually closed in 2019. It will be led by Randall Park (WandaVision) as Timmy Yoon, the store manager. His co-worker and secret crush will be Melissa Fumero (Brooklyn Nine-Nine). It will also star JB Smoove (Curb Your Enthusiasm), Tyler Alvarez (Crush), Madeleine Arthur (Devil in Ohio), Olga Merediz (In the Heights), and Kamaia Fairburn (Endlings).
The Netflix Blockbuster series will see smaller roles go to Keegan Connor Tracy (Once Upon a Time), Jayne Entwistle (Desperate Housewives), and Adam Beauchesne (You Me Her).

The images released by Netflix give a perfect glimpse at Blockbuster stores as we see employees donning blue polos, khakis, and name tags. We see the staff hard at work with some questionable faces of the antics that will ensue in the series. It also looks that Smoove’s character will be a customer to get on what kind of fun will happen in the store.
Ramos will write and executive produce with co-writers and exec producers David Caspe (Happy Endings) and Jackie Clarke (Superstore). John Fox, John Davis, and Payman Benz will also executive producer Blockbuster.
Netflix will open the doors of Blockbuster on November 3.
