The Defenders, a Netflix Original mini-series, is unlikely to continue for another season.
As first reported by ComicBook.com, Netflix has announced a new division of genre content called NX. This division would include all the streaming service’s sci-fi and superhero titles, including the Marvel series.

What does this have to do with a new Defenders season?
NX has seemingly taken over The Defenders Facebook page. Usually, if an IP is still being actively used, its social media profiles aren’t changed this drastically.
The Defenders’ first season wasn’t what Netflix hoped it would be. The mini-series was met with mixed reviews across many entertainment sites and had an even more lukewarm reception from fans. There were also scheduling conflicts when it came to the ensemble show due to all of the main cast members having their own solo shows to film. Netflix’s Vice President of Original Content Cindy Holland spoke with Deadline about this issue, stating:
“The biggest issue was the timing of production and launching of The Defenders because what that meant is we had to shut down all of the shows, so all the actors be available for The Defenders so it’s more function of that,”
Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist have all returned for new seasons. Daredevil, the series that started the television Marvel universe is set to return sometime this year for its third season. It is rumored to premiere October 19th, due to this promotional tweet from Netflix Thailand:

The tweet roughly translates to “I was dying as a devil. I live a better life as Matt Murdock. October 19th, meet Daredevil season 3.”.
