League of Legends and Netflix are teaming up to bring us their newest teaser for their upcoming series based on League of Legends, the immensely popular online game. The teaser for Arcane is brief but it looks to be packed with all the action expected from a standard League of Legends match. The story revolves around two champions; Vi and Jinx, who were criminals in the district of Zaun, the lower part of the city of Piltover.
According to Collider, Riot Games, who are the creators of the game and of the lore, are producing Arcane with Fortiche Productions, who have done several shorts, one of them featuring the aforementioned League of Legends champion Jinx and have worked with Gorillaz on a music video for their song by the name of Converse, which released in 2012.
League of Legends?
League of Legends is a multiplayer online battle arena (M.O.B.A.) game that has you pick from 155 champions. Matches consist of 5 champions on each side with the goal of destroying the enemy’s base. The games tend to run about a half-hour of min-maxing gold and making sure you cover mid. You gotta cover mid. Mid being shorthand for the middle lane. One of three typical lanes the 5 champions must watch to make sure the enemy does not advance. League of Legends was released in 2009 and still remains one of the top online games to this day. I’m surprised it took so long for a streaming provider to take it for a whirl.
The premise of the Netflix series is us following Vi and Jinx as they each choose different paces to their lives. With Jinx going down a more frenzied path while Vi chooses the tranquil path, becoming an Enforcer. The drama lies in the fallout of their friendship. They will do battle to see who prevails in the city of Piltover.
Arcane is set to debut on Netflix this Fall. The last we heard about this was when it was announced for 2020.
