The Neverwinter: Uprising expansion includes several new additions to the MMORPG and one of the biggest won’t be playable for a few more days. Tower of the Mad Mage puts players against the powerful spellcaster Halaster Blackcloak but players won’t be able to access it until next week.
The trial was meant to release August 24, but due to a last-minute unforeseen issue and concerns with classes and pacing, the content is being pushed off. The Neverwinter development team posted a response on their forums saying,
…we discovered some exploits and bugs at the last minute that we feel are important to address first in order to conserve the integrity of the Trial design and the player gameplay experience. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate all the information and input from players that helped us identify the issues.”
However, players can still access the trail through the Neverwinter preview server. Two groups of players have already succeeded in completing the trial. You can watch their run below or skip it if you don’t want to be spoiled by the secrets of Undermountain.
The new trial opens up tomorrow, August 24! Only two groups have completed the Tower of the Mad Mage on Preview – is your party ready take on Halaster Blackcloak?
Check out the successful runs here!

Halaster’s lair part of a ten-player raid that wraps up the Neverwinter Undermountain campaign. Once released, players will need to reach an item level requirement of 24,000 to fight the mage.
Several players took to the forums and social media about their disappointment with the delay. All hoping to hear good news soon but as of this writing, there is no official release date yet.
The team also released patch notes on character classes, dungeons, and companions. However, the most interesting thing to note is the updates they made to Tower of the Mad Mage. With the two groups already completing it, they have already noticed a few things to change.
Here’s hoping Perfect World updates the community soon so players can enter the trial and bring down the mad mage beneath Undermountain.
