Neverwinter has released a large update in the form of a new campaign titled Uprising. While this has been the focus of their announcements for many weeks now, they snuck in a new, unrelated feature along with this update. There is now a highly customizable Appearance tab, which greatly improves on the original capabilities. Now, players for this digital Dungeons and Dragons MMO RPG title have more control over their character’s appearance.
Before, players were limited to wearing only their Armor and powerful Equipment into battle if they wanted to protect themselves. In lands raging with goblins, giant spiders, and cultists, adventuring is quite dangerous. Fashion items such as fancy shirts, dresses, and costumes had no buffs and realistically could only be worn in safe city zones. This felt limiting because the array of Fashions is quite large and much more personality can be added to them. But players truly only wear the most powerful Armor they have in order to compete with strong monsters.
But now, players can wear anything at any time without getting less powerful. Amor and Equipment stay on but are only visible if the player wishes them to be. Neverwinter has created an entirely new tab on the “C” character profile screen called Appearance. And it’s here that players can put together their outfit in any way they choose.
Neverwinter has added an additional feature where old clothes and Armor can now be saved into the Appearance Library, so players will always have access to old garments if they choose to switch things out. Before this, items took up room in the adventurer’s bag and it made little sense to keep things.
The dyeing system has also been upgraded. Before dyes could only be used once per clothing items and had little customizable options. Now, dyes can be “permanently” bought and stored into a vast color library. Each item of clothes now comes with three color slots to enhance the customization of the clothing item.
Neverwinter has only continued to grow in size and popularity thanks to the booming love for Dungeons and Dragons. And the developers and creators seem earnest in their desire to give the fans what they want.
