Fortnite update 5.1 dropped today bringing a wide variety of new content, including the return of the infamous Guided Missile. Update 5.1 has brought back the explosive weapon, which was previously removed for being too over-powered.
Epic has done its part in balancing the gun by nerfing multiple aspects that made the weapon unfair. These changes include bumping damage from 110 to 77 and reducing structure damage. The Guided Missile is available in both Epic and Legendary variants.
Another long awaited return brings the Jetpack back into Fortnite. The Jetpack flies back into action alongside the new Fly Explosives game mode. In Fly Explosives, players will take to the skies armed with a wide array of explosive weapons. This includes grenade launchers, rocket launchers and the aforementioned Guided Missile. The storm will move in quicker with this game mode as players will not have to loot for very long to stack up on explosive goodies.
Additionally, the Jetpack has been drastically tweaked across the board. The Jetpack will now have increased fuel regeneration rates and a decreased burn rate to allow players to stay in the air longer. This will allow players to rain down rockets from the air making for very interesting encounters. The Jetpack will be available exclusively in Fly Explosives and Playground Mode. The return of the crossbow, a previously vaulted weapon will debut in Playground Mode as well.
Smaller changes include the removal of visible usernames for opposing teammates. This will likely help players from being targets of stream sniping.
Finally, Epic has implemented a fix for ghost peeking. Ghost peeking allows players to peek over walls without being seen and land sniper shots without having to put themselves in danger. This is a product of the third person camera choice that Epic has for Fortnite. In the new update Epic has adjusted the camera to make ghost peeking impossible.
