The New Game Plus Expo 2021 event was broadcasted on March 4 at 8:00 AM PST. The seven-hour-long live stream was hosted by SungWon Cho (ProZD) and featured titles from 10 different Japanese developers/publishers including NIS America, Aksys Games, and Inticreates. In case you missed the show, here are the 16 new adventure games coming to PS4, Nintendo Switch, PC, and even Xbox One from New Game Plus Expo 2021’s announcements.
1. The Silver Case 2425 – New Game Plus Expo 2021 Reveal
Announced by No More Heroes‘ Suda51 himself in the stream, this is a 2-in-1 collection for Switch that contains the thriller adventure games/visual novel The Silver Case and its long-lost sequel, The 25th Ward: The Silver Case. The bundle is planned to be released on July 6, 2021.
2. Gnosia
In this one-of-a-kind sci-fi adventure game, a spaceship is overtaken by aliens who morph into humans. Play Werewolf/Among Us against up to 14 NPCs and reveal their lies before they eliminate everyone aboard the spaceship. Gnosia launched on the same day as the live stream for Nintendo Switch for $24.99.
3. RICO London
This new FPS from publisher Numskull Games and developer Ground Shatter can be described as “XIII meets Max Payne” with a dash of procedurally-generated maps. Inspector Karen Redfern and her partner uncover a plot to supply guns across the UK and it’s up to you (and a co-op partner) to clean up the house. Coming Summer 2021 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC via Steam.
4. Exophobia
Explore an abandoned spaceship, fight off the unforgiving alien hordes, and uncover piece by piece the backstory and destiny of its human inhabitants in this brutal retro-inspired first-person shooter. Exophobia will launch on October 5 for PC via Steam and for PS4, Xbox One, as well as Switch.
5. World’s End Club
The Go-Getters Club, a group of misfit students from all over Japan, finds themselves trapped in a strange theme park during a class trip. In an attempt to both escape and unravel this mystery, they are forced to take part in a “Game of Fate” that will test their friendship. Headed by Kotaro Uchikoshi (Zero Escape) and Kazutaka Kodaka (Danganronpa) with character design by Take, the illustrator of Pokemon Sun and Moon, it is coming exclusively to Nintendo Switch on May 28, 2021.
6. Hoa
Hoa is a puzzle platforming game with a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere. Experience the magic of nature and imagination as you follow the titular Hoa on her journey through wondrous hand-painted environments. The game is due out in April for Switch and PC via Steam.
7. Pups & Purrs Animal Hospital – New Game Plus Expo 2021 Reveal
Live your veterinary dream in this new adventure game from Aksys and Nippon Columbia. 18 different breeds of cute fluffy friends need your help. Carefully check for injuries and administer treatment through 20 different mini-games. And that’s not all! On your days off, wind down by shopping, visiting the hair salon, or just hang out in the city. Coming to Nintendo Switch in summer 2021.
8. Alchemic Cutie
Live your life to the fullest on Wimba Island in this relaxing adventure game. Manage a farm, tame wild jellies, meet villagers, and uncover the secrets of the island when Alchemic Cutie releases this year on consoles and PC via Steam. It will launch first for Xbox One on July 27.
9. Ever Forward
Maya is lost in a strange place somewhere between reality and imagination. Use your observational skills to solve multiple puzzles and piece together the mystery of Maya’s past. Ever Forward launches June 29 for PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC.
10. Blaster Master Zero 3 – New Game Plus Expo 2021 Reveal
From Inticreates and Sunsoft, comes the latest and final entry to the Blaster Master Zero trilogy. In Blaster Master Zero 3, the eye-catching NES-style pixel art makes its return alongside brand new gameplay mechanics that lets you travel through different dimensions. It will launch on July 29 for PS4, Switch, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store for $14.99
11. Samurai Warriors 5
Samurai Warriors 5‘s story will focus on young Oda Nobunaga’s journey to become the first Great Unifier of Japan along with his retainer, Mitsuhide Akechi. The game will be released on July 27 for PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC via Steam. More information will be revealed in Koei Tecmo’s monthly live stream.
12. YS IX: Monstrum Nox
Turned into a being with supernatural Gifts, Monstrum, adventurer Adol “the Red” Christin has to join forces with five fellow notorious Monstrum to fend off the fearsome threats emerging from a shadowy dimension called the Grimwald Nox, unravel the mysteries of the Monstrum curse, and uncover the truth behind the unrest within the city of Balduq. This adventure RPG is available on PS4 while the Switch and PC versions will follow later this summer.
13. Code: Realize ~Wintertide Miracles~
If you’re looking for visual novels full of handsome guys — also known as otome games — then these last four adventure games releasing on Switch are for you. The third chapter in the beloved Code: Realize series features a brand new “Triangulate” scenario that lets you experience the magic (and chaos) of a two-on-one date. There is also a whole new storyline starring another young woman named Cantarella. It is now out with a $39.99 price tag.
14. Dairoku: Agents of Sakuratani
Having the talent to see what others could not, Akitsu Shino joined a secret government agency called The Occult Action Department. Monitoring the powerful beings who travel between worlds, now Agent Shino has to deal with otherworldly individuals and keep them from getting into inter-dimensional trouble. Dairoku is planned to be released on Switch this fall.
15. Olympia Soiree
Olympia is the last of her clan, and now the only person on Tenguu Island who can perform a sacred ritual. As she travels between the districts of the island, a society governed by a rigid class structure, she discovers their wonders and their weaknesses, as well as an entire underground community of shunned individuals whom she becomes determined to help. The game is also coming to Nintendo Switch in fall 2021.
16. Variable Barricade
Variable Barricade tells the story of Hibari, a member of a prestigious family who suddenly finds herself being “matched” to no-good hooligans: a loan shark, a gambler, a gold-digger, and an escort thanks to her eccentric meddling grandfather. Determined to live her own life, Hibari has two important goals: frighten off each of these marriage candidates, and absolutely refuse to fall in love. It will be released to Switch in early 2022.
