The official Pokémon Unite Twitter page has been confirmed that a special Holiday Event is to be held in Pokémon Unite starting on December 15 and going until January 16, 2022. The Holiday Event will include several new outfits and skins for both Trainers and Pokémon. This is the second Holiday event held for Pokémon Unite following the Halloween Festival. Additionally, Pokémon Unite will add Dragonite to the roster as a playable character on December 20.

Pokémon Unite adding Dragonite was previously teased in a recent leak, following the addition of Tsareena. Many of the outfits are Christmas-themed, and the event will be released alongside a special new mode and stages for players to participate in, including the addition of Delibird and Articuno as opponents in Shivre City and Tauros, Beartic, Cubchoo, Stantler, and Panpour in Remoat Island.
The Holowear accessories that will be available for Pokémon include a Santa outfit for Pikachu, and a pudding outfit for Crustle, Chef outfits for Cramorant, Mr. Mime, and Snorlax, as well as Christmas hats for Garchomp, Blastoise, Gardevoir, Mamoswine, and Dragonite. There will also be a new game mode that involves fighting a snowman and attacking as a snowball.
The official Pokémon Unite website has also listed several of the updates and challenges that will be available to players in celebration of this event. From December 9 to December 31, 2021, the Unite license for Tsareena will be available at no cost to players. Tsareena is a Melee All-Rounder with moves like Triple Axel, Trop Kick, and Queen Ascendant. As stated earlier, On December 20, 2021, the Unite license for Dragonite will be available on December 20. It will boast powerful moves like Dragon Breath, Outrage, and Draco Impact, and is also a Melee All-Rounder.
Additionally, players can take on the Illumination Challenge from December 15, 2021, to January 16, 2022, by selecting the holiday tree in the lobby to compete in daily missions and challenge missions and collect lights to light up the holiday tree and earn fun rewards, including a Trainer snapshot frame and background, a 1-day limited license, Trainer fashion items, and more.
In the Photo Challenge running from December 24, 2021, to January 6, 2022, players can participate in standard battles, quick battles, ranked matches, and the new 4-on-4 Snowball Battle in Shivre City to collect snowflakes, which can then be used to reveal parts of a photo that are hidden by a silhouette. Delibird can also be fought in Snowball Battle to earn a gift box containing a random one-time battle item.
Finally, players can enjoy special themed rewards and prize boxes by logging in daily from December 24, 2021, until January 1, 2022. From December 25 to December 28, 2021, a prize box will be available where players can choose to receive either Aeos coins, Holowear tickets, Aeos tickets, or item enhancers; from December 29 to December 31, 2021, a prize box will be available that contains a 7-day limited license for one of six Pokémon of the player’s choosing; and finally, a New Year’s prize box will be available only on January 1, 2022, that will offer players the opportunity to select from one of four exclusive Trainer fashion items.
