DC has introduced the upcoming lineup for an all-new Justice League. The group is revealed in exclusive variant covers for Dark Crisis #1 provided to CBR. This is the first issue for DC’s upcoming comic event from Joshua Williamson, Daniel Sampere, Alejandro Sanchez, and Tom Napolitano. The seven-issue series will release monthly beginning in June.
Who is This All New Justice League?
The Dark Crisis series will branch off from the upcoming death of the former Justice League in Justice League #75. That issue will feature an epic face-off against the Dead Army. As a result, only one member of the Justice League will survive. From there, this new team will take over the moniker. The new team will consist of Jace Fox, Jon Kent, Yana Flor, Jo Mullein, and Jackson Hyde. This team-up can be seen in the Justice League Future State series.
An exclusive variant cover for Dark Crisis #1 from Mahmud Asrar debuts this new lineup. In announcing this series, writer Joshua Williamson shared that it will be “about the characters and the relationships we’ve seen built over DC’s great history.” While there are new faces under those masks, the bond of the Justice League remains the same.
What Will These New Series Be About?
Dark Crisis will be a monthly event kicking off on Free Comic Book Day in Dark Crisis #0. However, a special one-shot, Justice League: Road to Dark Crisis #1, will build up to this new event. The DC comic will show a world without the Justice League, setting the stage for Dark Crisis. That will hit shelves on May 31.
The main event will bring back a character from the Crisis on Infinite Earths story: Pariah. This rising villain will begin to harness the power of the Great Darkness. This forces those left in the wreckage of the Justice League’s death to band together to stop him.
Dark Crisis is written by Joshua Williamson with art from Daniel Sampere. It will have colors from Alejandro Sanchez and lettering from Tom Napolitano. Artist Sampere touts Dark Crisis as a celebration of all that makes DC comics so great. “It’s a huge event full of epic heart, an event that embraces the past while looking to the future. Joshua and I are the biggest DC fans, and this is our love letter to these characters and this universe.”
