A new trailer for the final season of Star Trek: Picard was released at New York Comic-Con (NYCC), and it appears that the show is set to go out on a high note. We already knew there were some amazing things to expect in this last season of the Paramount+ series, such as the reunion of the Next Generation (TNG) cast. However, this trailer promises the surprising return of even more familiar faces, not all of which are all that pleasant to see. To be specific, we will see the return of Daniel Davis as the villainous hologram Moriarty as well as the return of Lore, the wicked twin of TNG’s Data.
‘Star Trek: Picard’ NYCC Trailer Introduces New Villain
While these familiar faces are certainly something to get excited over, this new trailer for Star Trek: Picard from NYCC has an even bigger surprise in the form of a new villain with a major to a classic TNG villain. The late Christopher Plummer portrayed the wicked General Chang in TNG. According to Deadline, Plummer’s daughter Amanda will portray Vadic, the main villain of Star Trek: Picard’s final season. While the details regarding her character remain vague, it’s clear she has a major bone to pick with Picard and his crew. As she says in the trailer, “I’ll peck, and I’ll jab at everything that makes you. We will scorch the earth under which he stands. And the night will brighten with the ashes of the federation. But first, we will have vengeance.”
While the details surrounding Amanda Plummer’s Vadic are unclear, it’s obvious that she has it out for Jean-Luc Picard. Is she Chang’s daughter? Time will tell.
With all these returns of familiar faces and the introduction of a new and compelling villain, Trekkies are probably desperate to see Star Trek: Picard premiere after this NYCC trailer. Unfortunately, they will have to wait until the final season premieres on Paramount+ on February 16, 2023.
