Marvel Studios has released a brand new trailer for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which also provides our first look at the MCU version of Ironheart. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is set to release on November 11, 2022, and will be the final Phase 4 Marvel movie. Ironheart is set to be part of Phase 5, as revealed at San Diego Comic-Con 2022.
What Is In Store for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever?
The first trailer for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever was released back in July and showcased our first look at the upcoming sequel to the 2018 film directed by Ryan Coogler, who is returning to direct, with additional co-writing and screenplay by Joe Robert Cole.
This new trailer gives a deeper look at the film’s plot, showcasing more of the villain, Namor, the King of Talocan, (Tenoch Huerta) as he comes up to the surface to strike against Wakanda as it mourns the loss of its king. We are also given our first look at Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne), or Ironheart, a young inventor who builds a suit of armor similar to Iron Man.
The film’s cast includes several familiar faces from the original movie, including Letitia Wright, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Florence Kasumba, Winston Duke, and Martin Freeman, as well as some new ones like Michaela Coel and the aforementioned Tenoch Huerta as Namor, who seems to be the movie’s villain. It has been confirmed previously that Daniel Kaluuya will not be returning to reprise his role in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
The new Black Panther appears to be a woman, but who exactly it is was not fully shown, it appears to be Shuri, T’Challa’s younger sister in the original film, which fits with the canon of the comics. The sequel will unfortunately not feature the star of the first film, Chadwick Boseman, who died in 2020 from colon cancer. Kevin Feige went on to say that the decision to recast him was not made due to being too soon.
