Disney+ has just released a new trailer forĀ Ice Age: Scrat Tales, a series of six shorts set to be released on the streamer in April.
Disney+ has officially unveiled a new trailer for Ice Age: Scrat Tales, a series of six shorts set in the world of the Ice Age film franchise, also currently streaming on Disney+. This series of six shorts will follow the ritual character Scrat, the iconic mascot prominently featured in the original Ice Age films, and will focus on him as he cares for a new character, Baby Scrat, while searching for acorns. Chris Wedge will return as the voice of the famous saber-toothed squirrel, with Kari Wahlgren offering the voice for Baby Scrat.
The official description for the series Ice Age: Scrat Tales reads:
Ice Age: Scrat Tales is a series of six all-new animated shorts starring Scrat, the hapless saber-toothed squirrel of the “Ice Age” adventures, who experiences the ups and downs of fatherhood, as he and the adorable, mischievous Baby Scrat alternately bond with each other and battle for ownership of the highly treasured Acorn. Featuring the vocal talents of Chris Wedge (Scrat) and Kari Wahlgren (Baby Scrat), the series is produced by Anthony Nisi, with Robert L. Baird and Andrew Millstein serving as executive producers.
Scrat debuted in the original 2002 film Ice Age, a popular film that followed several Ice Age animals on a journey to reunite a baby human with their family. TheĀ film was released in 2002 by Blue Sky Studios and 20th Century Fox; however, when Disney acquired 20th Century Fox in 2019, it took ownership of the IP, and the films are now available on Disney+. This is Disney’s first move for original content based on the franchise.
Ice Age: Scrat Tales will make its debut on Disney+ on April 13.
