If you are looking forward to seeing Eddie Brock and his monstrous alter-ego come to life on the silver screen, this new batch of images for the upcoming Venom movie should help tide you over until release.
The images give us a close-up shot of the symbiotic super-villain in his pure, ghastly form while the other shows us Tom Hardy’s Brock strapped to a chair, seemingly under of interrogation by Riz Ahmed’s Dr. Carlton Drake.
As can be expected, it was the close-up image of Venom himself that sent fans of the comics and cartoons into celebration.
The image was lauded for visually portraying the character in a manner similar to his original source material. Just check out the responses popping up in the Twittersphere.

//You nitpickers still complaining about Venom’s eyes too small? It’s not. I told you that his eyes are squinting in that trailer when he opens his mouth. Here’s the First Look that his eyes looks just fine. #venom #venommovie pic.twitter.com/CAgUBeVgcX

The release of these images accompanies definitive confirmation that the new Venom movie will not be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (not that it was in any doubt in the first place. It’s been one criticism of the movie from the very beginning).
In an EW piece, it was stated:
“Venom is the first of Sony’s new films based on characters from the Spider-Man comics, although it’s a separate world from last year’s Spider-Man: Homecoming. (It’s also not part of the deal between Sony and Disney that allows Tom Holland’s Spidey into the Marvel Cinematic Universe).”
But perhaps fans may be forgiven for this error since the depth and complexity of Venom seems to be present in the film, if Hardy’s comments are anything to go by.
Being interviewed by EW’s Devan Coggan, Hardy described him as “a reluctant hero and an anti-hero” while Director Ruben Fleischer described the film as “a relationship between two people who have to work together to create this hybrid symbiotic relationship.”
The movie will be released in cinemas on 5th October 2018 in the United States.
