Some quests in New World are full of challenging combat, while others are much more relaxed. There are even quests dedicated to teaching you how to fish! If you are trying to complete the Level 15 Baited Quest, you will need to catch a snail so you can create snail bait. While sometimes you can get the snail on your first cast, other times it can be very time-consuming if you are unlucky. By the end of this guide, you will learn how to find and catch a snail in New World.
How to Catch a Snail in New World
Snails are caught in bodies of shallow, fresh water. You will know if the water you are fishing in is fresh water when you walk into it. If “fresh water” appears and you have the option to gather it, then you’re in the right spot. Rivers, lakes, and small ponds will often be your go-to places to fish snails. You also do not need bait to catch a snail.
Everfall is one of the best locations to catch snails due to the abundance of rivers and small ponds scattered around the region. However, some other notable regions include the following:
- Monarch’s Bluff
- First Light
- Edengrove
- Brightwood

Once you have found some fresh water to fish in, equip a fishing rod. With your fishing rod equipped, press F3 to start fishing, and hold your mouse button down to cast your line into the water. A circle will appear above the spot where your fishing line landed. You will also see whether or not the water you are fishing in is shallow. If it is not, throw the line closer to your character or choose another location! After a few seconds, you will be prompted to hook in the fish. A minigame will begin where you have to hold your left mouse button down to reel the fish in without having too much tension in your line.
With enough luck, you will catch a snail. Don’t worry if you don’t get it on the first try! There are numerous fish that are found in fresh water, and it may take several tries before you find a snail during your New World fishing adventures.
New World is available on PC through Steam.
